Scrapbook gateaway in September 2010

A Scrapbook Getaway!
If you could put together the perfect scrapbook getaway, what would it look like? Would it be in an exotic locale? Would it have some of the most sought after instructors? Would it be at a beautiful boutique hotel? Would it be with a small group of supportive woman and with ample occasions to interact with the celebrities? Would there be lots of delicious food, great giveaways and fabulous make-n-takes and so much more! Are you visualizing a scrap getaway that is in fact a journey to remember for a lifetime? My vision of the perfect scrapbook retreat includes all those elements and we at Cocoa Daisy are about to make it a reality!
I am very excited to announce that in September of 2010 Ali Edwards, Jenni Bowlin and Karen Russell will be traveling with us and several members of the Daisy Divas to create not just a scrapbook trip but what will ultimately be an unforgettable adventure! Our event will take place at the gorgeous Kouros Hotel overlooking the blue waters of the Aegean Sea on the Greek island of Mykonos! If you’ve ever dreamed of traveling to Greece – and scrapbooking at the same time – here’s your chance!
We are keeping the event to an intimate number so that participants will not only have a chance to get to know one another and form new friendships but will really be able to interact throughout the week with some of their favorite scrapbook celebrities. Every participant will take the classes offered by each of the instructors including a 2 part photography course taught by Karen. On the last day of the event, we will all cruise to the nearby mythical island of Delos where you’ll have a chance to practice your newly acquired photography skills with Karen there to give you pointers and answer questions.
Each evening there will be a social hour where participants can kick back and relax. Afterwards we’ll break into smaller groups for dinners out with the instructors for a traditional Greek meal (and Greek dancing!) and nightly we’ll hold crops, make-n-takes and other special events (to be announced later)!
One very special thing about the Kouros Hotel besides being absolutely stunning and just completely remodeled, is the proprietress, Elina Koutsouradi. Elina is an avid scrapbooker and has herself gone on several scrapbook getaways around the world. She knows what it takes to make not only an event but a scrapbook event absolutely spectacular! What could be better than holding a getaway at a hotel owned and operated by someone who truly understands the needs of scrapbookers?

We would love to have you be part of the fun! If you’d like more information please feel free to email us at mailbox@cocoadaisy.com. Look for registration to open mid-October. If there is anything that you would like to details on (handicap accessibility, dietary restrictions, or whatever else) please feel free to email me with your questions and I would be happy tocheck on those for you while there.
I can’t wait to experience Greece with Ali, Jenni and Karen and hopefully you too!

Snacks by the pool

We have already informed you that with our recent rennovation a new restaurant area has been designed exclusively for our hotel guests. Our main concern is to provide our guests with the most delicate tastes made only with fresh Greek products that we personally handpick daily.
Besides our main meal menu with tastes of the Mediterranean we have a wide variety of light snacks and salads that you can enjoy by the pool while sunbathing or gazing the sunset.
We would like to thank Helena Virpi from Italy for her amazing photo shoot that really accents our delicacies.
Here is a glimpse of our Kouros salad. This salad combines the strong taste of arrugula leaves with the sweetness of strawberries mixed in a light honey-mustard sauce... yummie.
The well-known mozzarella sticks for those who want to snack light with their drinks.
Our version of club sandwich, using our secret sauce recipe and fresh Greek ingredients.
And this is Mykonos salad, arrugula and spinach leaves along with pine seeds, fresh cherry tomatoes, sun-dried tomatoes from Santorini and the most famous Mykonian cheese, ksinotyri, which adds a strong taste to the salad and sweetens with our own balsamic sauce.

Dear friends,
After popular demand about the construction being done underneath the hotel we are here to answer your questions.
Firstly I would like to write you something about our location. Our hotel is built in a cliff (that is why all our rooms have sea view) and has two entrances (the main at the top of the hotel and the second one underneath our swimming pool). The only thing that separates our hotel from the seafront is the road which connects the new port with Mykonos town. The construction is being done right beneath the road at the beginning of the seashore and takes around 100m in width and then sea floods your view.
What is this construction about???
This construction is the island’s plans of a new marina, yachting docks and a park. The project will finish next June and the most “painful” for us part has already finished, meaning that there is no more digging or drilling all there is left is the move of the cement blogs to and the final formation of the area with cement.
I hereby present you the architectural plan straight from the mayor’s office which shows how the project will look by the end of the works. Down to the right you can see highlighted in red where Kouros hotel is placed and see its position in relation to the construction. We are looking forward for the works to be completed because this project will upgrade our already privileged location and bring a more cosmopolitan flair right in front of us!! This marina will bring us even closer to the town and will allow you to walk through it on your way to Chora. It will for sure be a magnificent addition to the island and an addition to our already spectacular view!!
In case you have any more questions on this subject we would be more than happy to answer them via email at kourosho@otenet.gr

Spring in mykonos

Mykonos Island is all about rocks, rocks, rocks, and wind, wind, wind.
It is otherwise called the island of Aeolos, the god of wind (those who will visit us during the summer season will definitely notice the origin of its nickname). The winds are usually so strong that do not permit the growth of high plantation and cactuses and tiny palm trees is the only green you get to see during the summer.
In the winter though, it is eye-pleasing to see short grass hoping amongst the rocky fences and occasionally some spring flowers popping around.
Here is a picture taken today of our outdoors “garden” leading to the pool, yes, it is spring time here!!

Renovation in progress POOL BAR

Our outdoors pool bar changes location. In its original place a fine dining restaurant will be built which will have the outmost view of the Aegean sea and Mykonos town. The pool bar will be transferred to next to the breakfast room. It will be inserted in a huge rock and will blend harmonically with the natural environment. Its position will be close to the in-pool table so you’ll only have to grab your fancy cocktail and sit by the water…
Therefore see some work in progress…
This used to be where Stavros was preparing his famous frozen cocktails. You will notice that the bar is already gone and the scenery is being prepared to turn into an exquisite modern restaurant.
This picture is taken from the lobby's veranda and demonstates where the new restaurant will be located. The wooden pergola will be removed and a specially ordered tent will be placed to secure the location from the strong Mykonian wind. this tent will combine the traditional architecture with the modern attitude of Kouros Hotel by mixing materials such as wood, bamboo and glass.
And here you can see the initial steps of the new pool bar that is is being built as we speek. The rock on the back is preserved in its initial form as seen throughout the hotel. In the core structure of Kouros hotel you will see the traditional Mykonian architecture of white painted rooms with light blue windows and shutters blending smoothly with the rocky environment of Mykonos Island.
We are looking forward to showing you our new cocktail menu which will include both traditional drinks and new juicy creations!

Renovation in progress BATHROOMS

As promised, the progress of our renovation will be shown in this blog.
This pile of bathtubs is because….

All the bathrooms of our superior rooms are being remodeled completely, from tiles to tubs. The finest tiles have been chosen, new bathtubs have been ordered, along with extra large mirror placement to bring out an air of luxury to every room of the hotel.

6 superior rooms will be turned into suites by replacing the bathtubs with Jacuzzi tubs and refreshing the room decoration and facilities.

Needless to say that all of our rooms will be repainted as we do annually to achieve the fresh Mykonian look of the hotel. We have always appreciated the comments of guests about our hotel being brand new since there is always a lot of effort to achieve it during the winter time.

Renovation in progress SWIMMING POOL

One of the biggest changes of this year will be the remodeling of the swimming pool area.
As you will have noticed in our website’s pictures Kouros hotel’s pool is made of light blue tiles…

Right now the pool is being rebuilt to the popular island’s architecture of sheer cement with no tiles and water overflow all around with Greek white rocks. Especially ordered lights will be placed in it, that change colors along with our swimmer’s mood or the sunset colors…

Steps have been placed to the shallow end of the pool to allow a gradual insertion to the cool and refreshing pool water. At the other shallow end of the pool we have built an in-water table for those who want to sip their drinks underwater and gaze the fabulous sunset.

As soon as it will be completely we will upload new photos both on our blog and our website.
